Sydney boy falls from window

A young boy is in a critical condition after falling 2.5 metres from a window in Sydney's west. (AAP)

A young boy has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after falling from a window in a home in Sydney's north-west.

CareFlight confirmed the boy was knocked unconscious and sustained a "serious head injury" after he fell 2.5 metres from a window on to concrete at around 10am on Sunday.

NSW Ambulance paramedics provided initial treatment to the boy and then took him to a park where the Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter landed to provide specialist treatment.

The boy was placed in an induced coma and taken by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Greg Marshall said bystanders and neighbours went "above and beyond" to help the boy before emergency services arrived on scene.

"It's so important to keep an eye on our children at all times, it only takes a split second for tragic accidents like this to occur," Mr Marshall said.
