Sydenham Bypass Belfast closed after crash causing "extremely heavy" traffic

A major road in Belfast has been closed after a crash causing "extremely heavy" traffic.

The Sydenham Bypass has closed after a collision, the PSNI said on Wednesday evening, December 22.

Officers said both lanes are currently closed and traffic is "extremely heavy". Traffic NI said the collision happened after Dee Street and before Belfast City Airport on the Bangor bound section. It is understood to involve three cars and a lorry.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Motorists are asked to avoid the Sydenham Pass due to a road traffic collision. Both lanes are currently closed and traffic is extremely heavy.

"Please seek an alternative route for your journey."
