Swords welcomes home three World Champions as Rivervalley Taekwon-Do Club win BIG at World Championships

Rivervalley Taekwon-Do Club brought home three World Championship gold medals this weekend back to Swords from the 2019 ITF World Championships in Germany.

The week-long event, held in Inzell near the Austrian border, saw Jamie Power, Lyndsey Conway, and Ciara Fitzsimons bring gold medals back to North Dublin, while Rachel McGrath also made it through to the semi-finals.

Power brought home gold in the male junior 50kg sparring event, defeating Argentine opponent Jonathan Barco in his final, while Fitzsimons won the gold in the female junior 55kg sparring, besting Larisa Žagar Slemensek of Slovenia.

It's happened again - but Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians can both be proud after capital clash in the Dublin Derby  

McGrath took bronze in the female junior 60kg sparring.

Conway claimed a senior gold in the female senior 68kg sparring, beating Poland's Aleksandra Przytulska, and had the celebration of the afternoon, leaping into the arms of her coach, Rivervalley Master Stephen Cooley.

Overall Team Ireland finished ninth in the medal table, with ten bronze medals, a sole silver, and the three Rivervalley golds.
