Swords residents on red alert after creepy man in cap 'groped young woman walking to work'

Residents in Swords are on the lookout for a creepy man in a cap who allegedly groped a young woman walking to work.

The alleged incident took place on the tight and twisty Church Road in Swords, between The Old Schoolhouse Pub and Old Borough National School, on Friday evening just before 6pm.

The man is said to have appeared behind the woman outside the school and grabbed the woman while smiling, before trying to grope her.

The woman managed to wriggle free and ran away towards the pub.

One of the woman's parents posted about the incident in a local Facebook group, warning other people to be on the lookout for the man who some commenters claimed to have also seen lurking in the area during the day.

The post said: "My daughter was going to work when a young lad in his twenties came up behind her outside the school, next to The Old Schoolhouse Pub.

"He tried to grope her.

"She managed to get away, but it frightened the life out of her. When he grabbed her he was smiling, and when she got loose she ran.

"We went to the police, so just be careful in the dark mornings and nights.

"I just want people to know, I wouldn’t like it to happen to anyone else or worse.

"He had a tracksuit and a cap on, she was in work for 6pm so it happened at about 5:45."

Dublin Live have contacted An Garda Siochana about the incident.
