Switching off costs Kinnoull but manager Alan Cameron sees positives in defeat

Kinnoull’s unbeaten start to the Conference B was brought to an end on Saturday.

And afterwards manager Alan Cameron warned his side they can’t afford to switch off for a second in this league.

Two goals from midfielder Shaun Simpson wasn’t enough to avoid a 4-2 defeat against leaders Heriot-Watt University in Perth.

“We’re bitterly disappointed at losing the game but when you switch off against quality sides then that is what happens,” Cameron said.

“We had our chances during the game but when you are on top you must make these count.  Unfortunately we didn’t do that.”

Cameron added: “The conditions weren’t ideal but, at the end of the day, you have to adapt and make the best out of each situation.

“We had a few late call-offs due to injury and work but again you have to deal with this.

“Whoever has the jersey has to show they deserve to keep it.

“The boys had a real go in the last quarter but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.  We got caught pushing for an equaliser.”

Kinnoull sit sixth in the Conference B with a record of two wins and one defeat.

Cameron said: “Although we lost we have to take the positives from the game and move on to the next one.

“We need to ensure we work hard at training to improve.”
