Swiss travel: swift and easy

You can fly to Switzerland's main international airports - Basel, Geneva and Zürich - from Birmingham, Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Luton, Manchester and Stansted, with Swiss (0845 601 0956), British Airways, Bmibaby, easyJet and flybe.

Trains from Zürich and Geneva airports to the city centre run every 10 to 20 minutes, with a travelling time of approximately 10 minutes. The new number 10 tram service runs from downtown Zürich to the airport.

Buses from Geneva airport to the centre (numbers 10 and 5) stop every eight to 15 minutes during peak hours and the bus stops are located at the check-in level. They will take you into the city centre. You can pick up a free ticket for public transport from the machine in the baggage collection area at the arrival level. This Unireso ticket, offered by Geneva International airport, allows you to use public transport in Geneva free for a period of 80 minutes. Hourly intercity and direct trains also depart directly from either airport station and will connect you to many cities and towns.

In Basel, a bus service (bvb.ch) links the airport with the train station. The bus stops outside the main railway station and leaves every 30 minutes with a journey time of between 15 and 20 minutes to the centre.
