Swiss police investigators are to receive the 100,000 Swiss Francs (£69,282) reward for apprehending a man who has confessed to a quadruple murder.
On December 21, a 48-year-old woman, her two sons aged 13 and 19 and the older son's girlfriend, aged 21, were murdered in their home before it was burnt down by the perpetrator.
After an intensive investigation reached a dead-end in February, the government posted the reward to attract new information about the possible killer.
As no information was provided, the money was left unclaimed.
The murders took place in the village of Rupperswil, in the Swiss canton of Aargau, which has a population of just over 4,000.
On May 13, a team of 40 police investigators were finally able to apprehend a 33-year-old man who admitted to the killings.
Aargua's justice minister, Urs Hofmann, told the ATS news agency it is not yet decided whether the reward will be placed in a communal fund for the team or will be divided between them.
The man, now labelled the "Beast of Rpperwil", was discovered to be a student and local youth football coach who lived with his mother a short distance from the scene of the crime.
The police have not explained how their investigation focused on him as a suspect.
