Swiss International Air Lines will start its first-ever flights to Bengaluru as part of its 2026-27 winter schedule expansion, adding a new direct link between Zurich and Southern India. The airline will operate the route five times a week, making Bengaluru its third destination in India after Delhi and Mumbai.
The new service will begin during the winter timetable period running from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027. SWISS said the move is aimed at meeting rising demand for direct travel between Europe and India’s technology hub.
Bengaluru becomes SWISS’s third Indian destination
Bengaluru, often called India’s Silicon Valley, has emerged as a major centre for technology, innovation and global business operations. Several European firms and international technology companies have a presence in the city and surrounding region.
“We are delighted that, with Bengaluru, we will soon be providing our customers with another attractive and multi-faceted long-haul destination,” said SWISS Chief Executive Officer Jens Fehlinger.
“India’s Silicon Valley has a lot to offer both leisure and business travelers, and is also a perfect gateway for exploring Southern India. Our new Bengaluru service is particularly aimed at meeting the growing demand among the business community for direct flights to this major technology hub,” he added.
The eastbound LX 140 flight will depart Zurich at 1:20 pm on all days except Mondays and Wednesdays and arrive in Bengaluru at 2:55 am the next day. The return LX 141 service will leave Bengaluru at 4:50 am on all days except Tuesdays and Thursdays and reach Zurich at 10:50 am the same day.
Airline expands Airbus A350 operations
The airline also announced that it will expand the use of its new Airbus A350 aircraft on long-haul routes. After introducing the aircraft on Boston and Seoul services, SWISS plans to deploy the Airbus A350 on flights to Johannesburg during the winter schedule and on Shanghai services from September.
The carrier expects to have five Airbus A350 aircraft in its fleet by the end of the year. The aircraft will feature the airline’s new “SWISS Senses” cabin product across seating classes.
Alongside the expansion, SWISS will reduce some services from Geneva. Flights to Berlin, Hamburg and Pristina from Geneva will not operate in the coming winter schedule due to continued shortages of aircraft and engine parts affecting the airline’s Airbus A220 fleet.
In total, SWISS will serve 88 destinations from Zurich and Geneva during the 2026-27 winter season, including 60 European and 24 intercontinental destinations from Zurich.
