Plans to build swish holiday chalets at one of Ayrshire's most popular wedding venues have been scrapped.
The axe fell on Lochside House Hotel plans shortly after Scotland's leading environmental agency warned that one of the holiday homes WILL flood.
SEPA said the situation was "very dangerous" and also claimed the guests who occupy the property will be put "at risk".
Owned by the RAD Group, Lochside had hoped to add to their "luxury" offering in New Cumnock with eight swanky chalets.
The new properties would be situated to the east of the main venue sandwiched between a railway track and the Loch o' th' Lowes.
However, the watchdog did provide the venue with details on how they could overcome previous objections to the blueprints.
But the plans were withdrawn on November 2.
The warning from SEPA last week reads: "We have objected to this application because unit 8 and the land around it will flood.
"This is a very dangerous situation and will put the people who occupy it at risk.
"The development of this unit will also take up space in the floodplain, which may increase the risk of flooding elsewhere.
"Floodplains help to protect downstream communities. As a statutory consultee on flood risk SEPA must focus on the existing conditions at the site as that is what the current levels are based on for which we provide our advice."
RAD Group bosses are entitled to resubmit plans.
