Swingers, the crazy golf brand that has venues in the City and West End, is expanding and has lined up two new openings in the US.
The business, which initially started out as a five-month pop-up in a London warehouse in 2014, offers food, drink and a live DJ alongside crazy golf.
Swingers will open its third location in Washington DC in June, with its next site coming shortly after in New York.
Matt Grech-Smith, who together with Jeremy Simmonds⯠founded the Institute of Competitive Socialising, which is behind Swingers, said: “We’re thrilled to put a stake in the ground in two of the US’s most influential cities, known for their electric nightlife, diverse culture and prominent hospitality industries.”
The chain has raised $20 million in new funding from investor Cain International to help “support a robust opening pipeline in the US” .
Jonathan Goldstein, chief executive of Cain International, said: “We remain hugely confident in the ongoing appeal of unique experiential leisure concepts, as well as in Jeremy, Matt and their team as they look to continue the growth trajectory that the Swingers brand has been on since Cain’s initial investment in 2018.”
Goldstein added: “There is an exciting pipeline of opportunities for the team ahead and we are thrilled to both bring the concept to a new market and re-open the very popular sites in London.”
The leisure and hospitality sector has had to close at various points in the UK since the first lockdown started last March. Firms are now looking at reopening plans.
