Swindon Town have been handed a 'disappointing' double injury blow ahead of their money-spinning FA Cup tie against Man City tonight.
The Robins sit fifth in the League Two table just two points off the automatic promotion places.
However, if they are to pull off the unthinkable, they will have to do it without their vice captain Jack Payne. According to the Swindon Advertiser, Payne picked up a knee injury during their 5-2 hammering of Northampton Town last time out.
Head coach Ben Garner said: "Unfortunately, Jack Payne is injured. He injured his knee on Saturday against Northampton, which is disappointing.
"It's a shame for Jack because he's been an ever-present this season. He's been a fantastic player for us so far, so we're disappointed for him that he won't feature in the game.
"But our priority is the league campaign, and we want him back fit and available for that as quickly as possible."
Garner could also be without experienced ex-Premier League midfielder Jonny Williams for the visit of the Citizens. The Welshman played for Crystal Palace in the top flight and has been one of Swindon's shining lights this campaign.
"Jonny Williams hasn't trained as of Wednesday this week," Garner added.
"We'll see how he is going into training on Thursday, but at the moment he will be touch and go for the game.
"That's disappointing again, but our strength this season has been the strength of the group and maintaining that team ethic. That will be the case again moving forward."
Swindon Town predicted XI vs Man City
Working on the assumption that Payne and Williams will be missing, there is likely to be only two changes for the Robins.
Ben Gladwin and Romoney Crichlow will be hopeful of taking their places in the line-up.
City will have to watch out for Harry McKirdy up front who bagged four goals against the Cobblers on Saturday.
Swindon Town predicted XI: Wollacott; Hunt, Odimayo, Iandolo; Reed; Hayden, Crichlow, Lyden, Gladwin; McKirdy, Simpson.
