Swinburne Maddison has “streamlined” its management team as it prepares to grow its business.
The Durham law firm has said it has reorganised its senior management team as a precursor to embarking on a major expansion plan, which will see the business explore a number of different options in order to grow.
Swinburne Maddison said it will consider investing in its IT systems and carrying out a number of targeted hires to grow its headcount.
But the firm also added that it will look into carrying out acquisitions or picking up small teams from rival firms as part of its plans.
In preparation for its growth, the business has created a new committee of three partners who will preside over finance, operations, and business development.
At the same time, Jonathan Moreland, head of employment and dispute resolution, will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the firm as its new managing partner.
Mr Moreland said that the reorganisation had been designed to “streamline the decision-making process” while helping the firm focus on increasing turnover, profitability, and growth.
He added: “Whilst this reorganisation will bring more responsibility to the four-strong management team, we will not be relinquishing our caseloads. Instead, we will be outsourcing and delegating much of the non-legal work which has traditionally been managed in-house by the partners – beginning with the recruitment of a new ICT Analyst in April – to reduce any existing administrative burdens and free up even more time for case work.
“Whilst many staff continue to work from home, thanks to the policies and procedures we’ve recently adopted, we still operate very much as a team and I believe this is reflected in our ability to attract and retain a high calibre of employees at all levels of the business.
“We’re all in this together. I am confident that I will be able to look back in three years and see that the targets we are setting today, have not merely been reached, but exceeded!”
