
Takayuki Suzuki added to his burgeoning medal tally in swimming at the Tokyo Paralympics, winning his fourth overall by taking the silver in the men's 200-meter freestyle in the S4 category for the physically impaired on Monday.
"I aimed at winning a medal at all events [in which I entered]," Suzuki said after the race. "In this regard, I achieved what I wanted."
Suzuki finished in 2 minutes 55.15 seconds, well behind Israel's Ami Omer Dadaon, who took the gold with a world record of 2:44.84 at the Tokyo Aquatic Centre.
The bronze medal went to Roman Zhdanov of the Russian Paralympic Committee, clocking 2:58.48.
The 34-year-old Suzuki had previously won the 100 freestyle, while also picking up bronze medals in the 50 breaststroke and 150 individual medley.
His silver in the 200 free came after finishing second in the preliminary round earlier in the day with a time of 3:03.47.
Suzuki is appearing in his fifth straight Paralympics, and his medals in Tokyo raise his overall total to nine. He failed to medal only at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, where he had two fourth-place finishes.
The Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, native was born without a right leg, his left leg is missing from mid-thigh, and his right arm ends at the elbow. He has lived and trained in England.

Later in the day, Uchu Tomita picked up his second medal of the Tokyo Paralympics, a bronze, in the men's 200-meter individual medley SM11, a category for the visually impaired, alongside countryman Keiichi Kimura, who finished 5th in the event.
