Dubliners are being warned that there is a ban on swimming at Killiney beach and Coliemore Harbour following the examination of bathing water samples there.
The samples taken on September 12 illustrate poor water quality in the area. According to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, more water samples have been taken for testing but the prohibition notices are expected to stay in place until at least Tuesday.
Dun-Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said it will "update the public on any further developments." At the moment, sea swimmers can still use Dun Laoghaire's Beach Gardens and Forty Foot, both of which have 'excellent' water quality, according to the latest test results.

It comes as last week there was also a swimming ban at Velvet Strand Beach in Portmarnock due to stormwater overflow at a pumping station. The issue has now been resolved and the beach is open to the public.
Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
