Swimming Australia names interim chief

An interim CEO has been appointed to oversee Swimming Australia, initially for three months. (AAP)

Former A-League and cricket chief Eugenie Buckley has been appointed as Swimming Australia's interim boss.

Buckley will fill in for Alex Baumman, who is quiting the job, citing health reasons, just three months into his tenure.

Buckley, the managing director of Suiko Consulting, has held roles as chief executive officer of Brisbane Roar and of the ICC Women's World Cup in 2009.

SA president Kieren Perkins says Buckley will hold the position for three months while the peak body, via a global consulting company, searches for a permanent chief executive.

The job will be formally advertised from Wednesday with a shortlist hoped to be settled by October.
