Swimmers rescued by onlookers after getting into difficulty at Three Cliffs Bay

Swimmers were brought to safety after finding themselves in difficulty at Swansea's Three Cliffs Bay on Wednesday.

Mumbles Coastguard Rescue Team sent a lifeboat and a helicopter to the beauty spot at around noon to help the duo, who were also assisted by onlookers who saw the scenes unfolding.

Four members of the public had managed to bring the swimmers to safety.

A spokesman for the rescue team said: "Coastguard took a report of a couple of swimmers in difficulty in Three Cliffs Bay and we got a lifeboat, a coastguard rescue team and a coastguard helicopter sent to assist them.

"I can confirm all persons are safe and well.

"The helicopter was involved in an aerial search but was not involved in the rescue proper.

"It was there to make sure nobody is in any form of difficulty, and making sure all six people involved were safe."
