Swimmer saves girl from drowning in river in Indore

INDORE: A swimmer on Sunday saved life of a 19-year-old girl trying to end her life by jumping into Kshipra. He was given a reward of Rs 5000 and life saving material, police said.

SP Shivdayal Singh said, “The boy Tipu Sultan served a great cause of humanity by saving life of a girl, who jumped into Kshipra. The boy stopped a truck to take rope to save her on seeing her drowning in the river. He rescued the girl and rushed her to hospital, where doctors gave her primary treatment, She was later referred to Indore.”

Singh said, “It came to the fore that there was a lack of life saving equipment like rope, boats there. So, the swimmer was provided with five ropes, floating kits, life saving jackets. Also, home guards were directed to post a boat round the clock there.”
