Swimmer oblivious to shark circling her

From the 28th floor balcony of the Tidewater Resort in Panama City Beach in Florida, Stan Battles recorded video of a female swimmer who was oblivious to a shark circling her in the emerald green waters.

The footage is a bit grainy because of the distance, but it is clear enough to make out the swimmer and the shark checking her out.

Battles told the Panama City News Herald that he had been observing the shark doing figure eights through the muck and sea grass for about two hours until the woman swam by.

“The woman swims directly over this thing,” Battles told the Panama City News Herald. “Directly over it.”

That is when the shark took an interest in the swimmer and when Battles began filming.

“It was just kind of crazy,” Battles told the Panama City News Herald. “Everyone on the beach, in the water, they had no clue.”

But when someone noticed the shark, people began yelling “shark” at the swimmer. Startled, the woman then swam to shore.

Battles went down and met up with the woman and showed her the video.

“She never saw it,” Battles said. “She was like, ‘I think I’m done with the ocean.’

“It was crazy. I’m just glad no one got hurt.”
