Swimmer Rikako Ikee, who has come back to competition after battling leukemia, released a photo of herself in long-sleeved kimono on the occasion of Monday's Coming-of-Age Day.
The photo of Ikee, 20, was taken in September and released by her management company.
"I have come to this day in a situation I never imagined a year ago. But as an adult, I will devote myself to becoming a strong person and a strong athlete," commented Ikee.
The swimming star canceled her participation in the Tokyo New Year's swimming competition, held Saturday and Sunday, due to the resurgence of novel coronavirus infections.
