Swimmer 'collapses' in sea at Dollymount beach, Dublin as emergency services rush to scene

Emergency services have rushed to an incident at Dollymount beach near Clontarf, Dublin.

It's understood that the swimmer collapsed while in the water and got into trouble.

The Coast Guard and ambulances from the Dublin Fire Brigade have attended the popular north Dublin beauty spot on Bull Island, Dublin Live reports.

It's believed the man was taken away to hospital by ambulance with one onlooker saying "he looked like he would be fine".

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade have yet to release a statement following the incident.

Dublin's beaches have seen an influx of people since Monday, with crowds flocking to the city's coastal hotspots since lockdown restrictions were loosened at the beginning of the week.

The first phase of the so-called roadmap to recovery coincided with some of the best weather the capital has seen this year.
