New backstroke world record holder Kaylee McKeown has cruised through as fastest qualifier for the 200 metre individual medley at Australia's Olympic swimming trials.
The morning after breaking the 100m backstroke world record in Adelaide, McKeown's conservative swim in Monday's medley heats was still quickest.
The 19-year-old clocked 2 minutes 13.19 seconds - almost five seconds outside her personal best - after shutting down her efforts in the last leg, freestyle.
McKeown will carry overwhelming favouritism into Monday night's final with the next-fastest, Meg Bailey, almost a second slower in the heats.
Ariarne Titmus followed her stunning 400m freestyle swim on Sunday night with another solid swim on Monday morning.
The 20-year-old Titmus on Sunday night came within 0.44 seconds of the 400m freestyle world record held by American great Kate Ledecky.
Titmus was the fastest in Monday's heats of the 200m freestyle, an event in which she holds the Commonwealth record.
Titmus (1:55.72) was followed by Madi Wilson (1:55.86) and Emma McKeon (1:56.52).
In the men's 200m butterfly heats, Matt Temple topped qualifying and was nearly two seconds ahead of the next fastest, Bowen Gough.
