Taylor Swift’s recent attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games has brought a new audience to the game of football, and with their viewership, a new breed of reactions to the team’s games has become a phenomenon on social media.

Swift’s devoted fanbase — the aptly nicknamed “Swifties” — have been taking in the action on the gridiron, many for the first time. Their newfound respect for All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce has made national news since his relationship with the prolific pop star became a topic of seemingly constant conversation back in September.

These “Swifties” are something like the “Deadheads” or “Parrotheads” of old — passionate, loyal followers who eat up anything and everything related to their musical idol. With Swift’s interest in Kelce comes “Swiftie” interest in Chiefs football.

Some of the fanbase’s tweets in reaction to Kansas City’s win were wholesome, others curious, but all were squarely focused on the woman many consider to be the preeminent musical talent of our age.
