SWG3 announce plans to bring 'hotel for music lovers' to Clydeside

SWG3 has announced ambitious plans to transform Glasgow's Clydeside with a new hotel.

Building on the success of their popular venue, which hosts gigs, outdoor festivals and creative events, they have revealed plans to bring a "hotel for music lovers" to the city, as they partner up with architect and designer Stallan-Brand.

The new development will transform abandoned land, improving its current state and introducing a unique hub to the neighbourhood as well as, establishing Glasgow as a must-visit tourist destination.

SWG3 was created after founding partners, Andrew Fleming-Brown and Andrew Mickel transformed a group of derelict buildings into the much loved venue. They describe the hotel expansion as the "next step".

The new development is set to "transform" the Clydeside (SWG3)

The project team includes hotelier Bruce Robertson, who has over 25 years of experience in the design, development and operation of lifestyle hotels and private members clubs.

The 139-bedroom hotel is due to open in late 2026 and will feature two restaurants, two bars, co-working spaces, a gym and movement studio, and a rooftop terrace.

Having already announced ambitions to become net zero, SWG3’s leaders say they are committed to making the hotel sustainable.

Andrew Mickel, SWG3 Director, said: “Our vision for the SWG3 hotel is to deliver a brand new welcoming space for all creative souls to stay. A unique new location for nurturing art, music and creative magic wrapped in cutting edge design.

"Since transforming the galvanizers' yard and disused warehouses into one of the country’s most talked about arts venues, the SWG3 team have continued to invest heavily in the community, and this project will be no different. We hope to not only deliver economic growth for the Clydeside, Yorkhill and Glasgow as a whole, but prove that good business can be sustainable and socially conscious as well as simply great fun.”
