SWF confirm Premier League and Championship restart alongside bumper TV deal

Scottish Women’s Football chiefs have confirmed dates for the return of football.

The Scottish Women’s Premier Leagues 1 and 2 as well as the Championship divisions will kick-off on October 18 subject to SFA and Scottish Government guidance.

The league have also confirmed that BBC Alba will now show double the number of fixtures for the 2020/2021 season after a fresh agreement was struck.

The season will be concluded by May 21 to allow a representative from Scotland to be nominated for the Champions League.

A condensed League Cup competition is also scheduled for May and June 2021.

The season had only just kicked off for clubs in Lanarkshire when the season was put on hold on March 15 in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

In the SWPL1 Motherwell will be gearing up for the big kick-off, with Hamilton Accies set to return to action in SWPL2.

In the Championship, Airdrie, Clyde and Gartcairn will battle it out.

A fixture list is expected by August 21.
