The Imabari Color Show has been held by the prefectural textile dyeing industry association since 2017. This year's contest was held under the theme of the U.N. The grand prize went to work by an art club of the prefectural government-run Imabari Higashi junior high and high school. About 500 colorful spheres, each about 15 centimeters to 30 centimeters in diameter, were hung from the ceiling. They were made by wrapping threads around balloons, then hardening them. The spheres made with green and white threads look like muskmelon.
