Sweetheart Jordan North using I'm A Celebrity fee to buy his mum a new kitchen

Jordan North's family will be thrilled with his appearance on I'm A Celebrity even if he is evicted early – as it is paying for his mum's new kitchen.

The Radio 1 DJ has vowed to help out his mum thanks to his bumper pay day, in a move which is sure to win him even more fans.

Asked why he signed up, he said: “I've watched it since I was a kid. Plus, let's be honest, 2020 has been a tough year for everyone. So, it's something different. I had quite a six months during lockdown and if I'm honest, my mom wants a new kitchen. So I said, if all goes well, I'll help her get a new kitchen.”

Jordan, 30, is tipped by some as a dark horse to win as he is easy-going and there have been large numbers of bets on him being crowned king of the castle since his name was confirmed earlier this week.

Other Radio DJs have been on the show before including Radio 1's Adele Roberts last year. But Jordan did not ask any of them for advice.

He added: “I haven't really spoke to them because I have to keep it a secret. And I really wanted to keep it top secret because I wanted the element of surprise. I was tempted to ring Adele as well because she was in last year.

“However, I have had some good advice from my family. All my brothers, my dad, my cousins, my uncles were all in the army. So, they've been helping me, telling me how to cope in cold conditions and how to stay warm. What do they call it in the army? Go to your happy place when you're struggling mentally. So, they've definitely been offering me help and advice a bit.

“My happy place is definitely, and I've thought about this, it's a Saturday afternoon in the pub before we go to Turf Moor to watch Burnley(football team) the play.”
