Now until Aug 31, the Thai Postal Service is shipping fresh boxed seasonal fruits from Surat Thani, claimed the best breeding school in the world for rambutan.
Produced by the Baan NaSarn Agricultural Cooperative, each box contains 3kg of premium grade fruits at a special price of 225 baht.
Rambutan, high in Vitamin C, is a fruit native to Southeast Asia, due to optimum production in warm, tropical climates. Thailand, the world's largest producer of rambutan, makes up for 55.5% (roughly 588,000 tonnes) of the world's supply.
The first rambutan trees were believed to be planted by the Chinese Malaysian K. Vong in Baan Nasarn in 1926. Thus, it has become an important source of income for Surat Thani locals. As a major cultivation center, this fruit and its history is honoured at an annual rambutan fair, held during August's harvest season.

Apart from rambutan, Thai Postal Service also offers a delivery service for sweet, pesticide-free melons that can be ordered from Ozone farm in Chiang Rai, weighing on average 1.5-1.8kg, at a price of 350 baht. From today through July 31, interested buyers can order two premium melons at only 599 baht.
Ozone farm grows produce in sand assisted by technology that keeps track of each melon's time frame of growth. These meticulous techniques generate the ultimate ripened and fragrant green melon, enriched with potassium, which is beneficial in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. Homemade products such as organic melon jam and sundried cherry tomatoes are also available.
