Sweet heist on final day of candy and snacks exhibition in Chicago

CHICAGO _ A thief pulled off a sweet heist at Chicago's McCormick Place, stealing nearly $20,000 worth of candy on the last day of the Sweets and Snacks Exhibition there, according to Chicago police.

Boxes of Kidsmania, CandyRific and Squire Boone Village candy were being loaded into trucks and were left unattended in the parking garage when someone stole them around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The candy was valued at about $18,000, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Jennifer Bryk.

No arrests have been made.
