Swedish striker 'has the quality' to be a success in Championship as Nottingham Forest speculation grows

Nottingham Forest are likely to face yet more Championship competition in their reported bid to land Ostersund striker and winger Hosam Aiesh.

The Reds’ second tier rivals Middlesbrough are understood to be the latest club showing an interest in the 24-year-old, joining Leeds United, Forest and Reading who have all been linked.

According to Sky Sports, Russian outfit Rostov, Basel and Amiens are also monitoring his situation, but it’s Jonathan Woodgate and Boro who are the latest English outfit to be credited with interest.

Aiesh has already admitted that he sees his future away from the Swedish club this summer, sparking the interest of clubs across Europe including Forest chief Martin O'Neill.

Ostersund’s technical director David Webb believes the striker, who can also operate out wide, has the ability to make the step up and perform at Championship level, if given the chance.

Aiesh has the quality to make it in higher leagues in Europe - including the Championship,” he told Sky Sports.

Despite mounting interest in Aiesh, it’s unlikely the Swedish outfit will allow him to leave the Jamkraft Arena for less than the 2m euros they rejected a year ago.

Speaking earlier this week, Ostersund’s manager Ian Burchnall revealed interest was growing in his star man, who impressed on these shores against Arsenal in last season's Europa League.

“But this interest is of course increasing, and I expect to hear from several big clubs in the coming weeks.”
