Swedish papers fear loss of state subsidies

Proposed changes to the Swedish press subsidy system may result in a serious loss of income for major newspapers. New proposals are being presented to the EU Commission that will offer greater support to local papers rather than nationals. For example, financial support will only be given to local publications with a circulation of up to 40,000 copies.
