Police have arrested a Swedish man accused of burning down a building in his home country who had been hiding in Pattaya using fake German identification documents.
The man, who was not identified, was the subject of an Interpol red notice, wanted on a charge of arson by authorities in Savsjo city in Sweden.
Thai police were told that the fugitive had fled to Thailand and was hiding in Pattaya. Investigators then found him and made the arrest.
The fugitive had been using fake identification and driver's licence cards issued in Germany for hotel check-ins and transactions, police said.
Police charged him with overstaying his visa and were cooperating with the Swedish embassy in arranging for his extradition to Sweden to face charges.
