Sweden vs Ukraine: Euros prediction, kick off time, team news, lineups, venue, h2h results, latest odds today

Sweden and Ukraine lock horns in Glasgow tonight for a place in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

Both sides will be bidding to win a European Championship knockout match for the very first time at Hampden Park, with a spot against either England or Germany in Rome on Saturday at stake.

2004 quarter-finalists Sweden head into the last 16 full of confidence after surprisingly topping Group E ahead of Spain, with an opening goalless draw against La Roja followed by wins over Slovakia and Poland.

Meanwhile, Ukraine ultimately missed out on a runners-up berth in Group C after losing to Austria in Bucharest, but in doing so they avoided a clash with formidable Group A winners Italy and snuck through as one of the four best third-place teams.

Andriy Shevchenko’s side began their campaign with a spirited fightback that just fell short in a five-goal thriller against the Netherlands, while they later held on to beat major tournament debutants North Macedonia in Saint Petersburg.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Sweden vs Ukraine is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off tonight - Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Sweden vs Ukraine team news

Sweden have been handed a huge boost ahead of this last-16 contest after Emil Forsberg declared himself fit to play after missing training on Saturday.

The RB Leipzig winger has been his country’s most effective player at the Euros so far, netting the winner against Slovakia from the penalty spot and also notching twice in the thrilling 3-2 win over Poland.

Juventus midfielder Dejan Kulusevski will be pushing to start after a two-assist cameo off the bench in that final group fixture.

For Ukraine, Dynamo Kiev midfielder Viktor Tsygankov could come into the lineup in place of club team-mate Mykola Shaparenko.

Predicted lineups

Sweden: Olsen; Lustig, Lindelöf, Danielson, Augustinsson; S. Larsson, Ekdal, Olsson, Forsberg; Isak, Quaison

Ukraine: Bushchan; Karavaev, Zabarnyi, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Malinovskyi, Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Tsygankov

Sweden vs Ukraine prediction

Sweden don’t often seem to make a major splash at tournaments, but they impressed with their tactical flexibility to top Group E ahead of Spain.

With Forsberg fit and firing alongside the likes of Alexander Isak and Robin Quaison, Janne Andersson’s side should have what it takes to seal a narrow triumph in a competitive affair in Glasgow.

Ukraine are notably unpredictable, as demonstrated by their own group campaign. In West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk they have enough firepower to reach the quarters, but would need to play far better than they did against Austria last time out.

Sweden 1-0 Ukraine.
