Sweden v Ukraine Euro 2020 tickets and how Covid restrictions could benefit Glasgow locals

It may be over for Scotland, but Euro 2020 is taking place in Glasgow and fans keen to catch a knock-out game still can.

Had Steve Clarke’ s men beaten Croatia at Hampden last Tuesday, they could have been playing there again next week for a place in the quarter-finals.

As it is, Sweden will face Ukraine for a place in the last eight at Scotland’s national stadium.

Kick-off is at 8pm - so Scots are free to hopefully see Germany dumping England out on their own backyard in the 2pm kick-off.

However, the number of fans travelling from each country is likely to be minimal given Covid restrictions.

Both Sweden and Ukraine are on Scotland’s amber list, which means anyone arriving from either of those two nations complete two and eight day Covid tests at a cost of £180 and then quarantine in their accommodation for ten days.

So unless they’re already here or traveling from a nation on the green list, there’s unlikely to be much uptake of tickets from Swedes or Ukrainians.

That gives the people of Glasgow an opportunity.

Okay, it may not be the most glamorous fixture of the tournament, but for those who missed out on Scotland tickets, it’s a chance to attend a major finals after all.

Tickets cost £50 each and should be available from the UEFA portal, although as yet next Tuesday’s encounter hasn’t been added.

Now that the knock-out games have been confirmed, fans who previously had tickets for certain games are likely to be looking to swap, especially if their side is still in the competition.

A number of Scots have taken to social media in a search for briefs while others are cursing their luck at having been allocated them, so there are deals to be done.
