CHENNAI: DMK councillors during the council meeting on Monday raised issues on storm water drain work, saying the contractors in the field were not technically equipped.
Ward 12 councillor V Kavi Ganesan said when he had gone to inspect SWD work in his ward, he found the contractors to be technically incompetent. “They do not know anything,” he said. The projects are not being implemented based on requirement and ground reality but on a standard procedure uniform for all zones. Several other councillors spoke on the need for better implementation of SWD and sewage plugging work. The councillors also said the AEs were not responding to their queries.
In response, corporation commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi said the councillors can contact the regional deputy commissioner to convey their suggestions.
Mayor R Priya passed a resolution on implementing the property tax general revision on line with the GO passed by the government a month ago.
