A man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home for nearly three hours Wednesday morning in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers were called for a “domestic incident” about 8:30 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Rhodes, according to Chicago police. The man barricaded himself inside the home with a woman.

As of 10:40 a.m., authorities had made contact with the man and negotiators were speaking with him, according to police. A woman and a baby were brought out of the building and taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The man was taken into custody by 11:18 a.m., police said. Charges against him are pending.

Police said no weapon was recovered at the scene.

The nearby Park Manor Elementary School, 7037 S. Rhodes, was placed on lockdown during the standoff. The lockdown has since been lifted.
