Swansea send parting message to Alan Tate after Nottingham Forest move confirmed

Nottingham Forest have confirmed Alan Tate as one of the three additions to Steve Cooper's backroom team ahead of this weekend's Championship clash with Millwall.

Tate had been with Swansea City before the club announced his desire was leave with his resignation accepted this week.

The former defender first became associated with the Swans after an initial loan spell as a player in 2002.

During his time at the Welsh side, he went on to play a key role in the club, retaining their Football League status after the dramatic victory over Hull City at the Vetch Field in May 2003.

The club then signed him on a permanent deal the following season.

Tate went on to become a first-team regular and played as a goalkeeper on two occasions while representing the Liberty Stadium side, he also enjoyed three promotions and lifted the Football League Trophy.

Following his retirement, he returned to Swansea to become an academy coach before joining the first-team coaching staff for the 2019/20 with Cooper before stepping in as caretaker-manager following the latter's exit in July.

The statement released by Swansea City read: "Everyone at Swansea City would like to place on record their sincere thanks and gratitude to Alan for his contribution both on and off the pitch during his time at the club and wish him well in the future. He will always be welcome at the Swansea.com Stadium."
