Swansea's LC Waterpark re-opens at the weekend but there are big changes

One of Swansea's most popular leisure pools officially re-opens this weekend, but not as you knew it.

The LC has announced its Waterpark will be back open to the public on Saturday, October 17, but it has made a number of changes to allow customers to feel safe when attending amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Due to Welsh Government guidelines, the pool capacity will be significantly reduced, and therefore people are advised to book in advance.

Whilst the popular waves, lazy river and interactive area with its volcano bay will still be as they were, the slides will not be in operation.

You'll also have to wear a face covering at all times when you're not in the waterpark or changing village.

When you arrive, you must follow the Tommy turtle stickers to the changing village, where you'll be directed towards your cubicles and lockers, where you can get changed and ready for your swimming session.

You must make sure you follow all of the one way arrows in the waterpark, and there will also be plenty of hand sanitiser to use throughout the building, including inside the waterpark itself.

You will need to leave to the right of the changing rooms, exiting via the sports hall corridor.

There will be designated cleaning times so that changing rooms remain as safe and as sanitary as possible, and you must observe social distancing at all times within the building.

A statement on the LC's website reads: "As a business, we have adapted to ensure our customers and staff feel safe when attending the site, and therefore we have made a number of changes.

"We are delighted to be re-opening the waterpark with a revised programme packed full of family splashing fun!

"Covid regulations mean we have had to rethink the way we offer our waterpark fun and change our sessions.

"There is still lots of quality time with your family to be had while swimming in our wave pool, floating around the lazy river or jumping through the waves.

"The younger fan can still enjoy our volcano bay area including slide and the interactive area."

There will also be reduced forms of payment that you can use.

"Due to necessary capacity restrictions while social distancing regulations remain in place, unfortunately we are not able to accept Tesco Clubcard Vouchers as a form of payment.

"We have had confirmation from Tesco that they have extended the validity of voucher codes from six to 24 months from the original order date to give customers more time to use them once restrictions are lifted."

A spokesman for Freedom Leisure told WalesOnline: “We’re looking forward to welcoming back swimmers. We’ve made a few important changes so that we can ensure the safety of our visitors and staff.

"Of course, we also recognise that new pandemic guidelines or rules may come into effect. We’ll take appropriate action to comply with any new restrictions.”
