Swansea road closure causes rush hour chaos after eight vehicle crash

Heavy traffic is blighting Swansea this evening following an eight-vehicle crash that took place earlier today.

The A4067 is closed in both directions as accident investigation work is still being carried out between Ynys-Penllwch Road and Pontardawe.

A serious collision, involving eight vehicles, took place in the area just before 9am this morning.

There are currently delays on Swansea Road and Glais Road.

Commuters travelling in the area are currently being asked to seek alternative routes.

At the moment traffic is continuing to build up in Clydach due to the road closure.

Vehicles are moving slowly throughout the area.

Earlier today South Wales Police released the following statement regarding the incident: "We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision, which occurred at approximately 8.30am this morning on the southbound carriageway of the A4067 between Pontardawe and Glais.

"The collision involved a coach and seven cars.

"As a result of the collision, an 11-year-old male occupant of a Vauxhall Corsa, has received serious injuries, and was conveyed to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff by air ambulance.

"Numerous other people received minor injuries.

"One man has been arrested."
