Swansea man, 82, carried out sex attack on boy under 13

A paedophile pensioner who abused a young boy is now behind bars.

David Henry Williams, 82, denied abusing the youngster - meaning his victim and family were put through the gruelling ordeal of a Crown Court trial.

However, jurors saw through Williams' lies and convicted him of three child sex offences.

Swansea Crown Court heard the Williams was arrested in July last year at his home in Killay , Swansea , after his victim told his mother about the the shocking abuse.

Police urge people not to be vigilantes after child sex arrest

Detective constable Amanda Pugh, of South Wales Police , said Williams' actions had a "profound effect" on the child.

She said: "Williams preyed on this child's innocence and vulnerability to satisfy his own depraved interests.

"I cannot praise the victim and his family enough for having the strength and courage to speak out and support this prosecution.

"They also acted with so much dignity and have ensured that Williams is now in custody and unable to abuse anyone else."

Williams was found guilty of two counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13. The offences took place in March last year.

He has been handed a seven year jail sentence and will be on the sex offenders' register for an indefinite period.
