Swansea issue transfer update on Joe Rodon amid Manchester United links

Swansea City have received 'absolutely nothing' in the way of interest for defender Joe Rodon.

The MEN reported earlier this month that the Swans are expecting a battle to keep their star defender this summer with Manchester United and Manchester City expected to register an interest.

But with the season yet to be finished and the start date of the summer transfer window still to be confirmed, the Welsh club are no closer to selling Rodon.

"Joe is an outstanding player and just as good a person as well," Swansea boss Steve Cooper told BBC Sport.

"But there hasn't been any interest at the moment and I know he is a talking point and somebody tells me he is in the papers.

"But there has been absolutely nothing official going on and on that front, the whole market is going to be interesting how that turns out because I don't think here will be loads of players bought with fees.

"Maybe it will be different in the Premier League with their money, but certainly at our level.

"But no, there is nothing to do with Joe and I don't think the chairman will be selling anyone on the cheap, that's for sure because we have got a good few assets at the club and we don't want to lose them - I don't anyway!"

The MEN understands Swansea could sell Rodon for around £20m if indeed there are bids for the centre-back this summer.

The Wales international himself is also understood to be open to a move to the Premier League.
