A dental nurse has died after being treated for Covid-19.
Linnette Cruz, 51, passed away on April 14 after being treated for coronavirus in the intensive care unit at Morriston Hospital.
Ms Cruz was a senior head nurse at the Brynteg dental practice in Sketty, Swansea. She leaves a husband, Jeonardy, a son, Jeonard, a sister, Rose, and her parents.
Practice owner Nik Patel said: “She brought love, light and joy to everyone around her and will be sadly missed by all.”
Mr Patel said her friends and colleagues were devastated by her death.
Ms Cruz trained in the Philippines and came to Swansea a number of years ago. She joined Brynteg as an extended duty dental nurse before rising to senior head nurse.
She was admitted to Morriston Hospital last month with Covid-19.
Karl Bishop, dental director for Swansea Bay University Health Board said: “Linnette’s death is deeply upsetting to her family, friends and colleagues and all our thoughts are with them. She was a highly committed and caring dental nurse, respected by her colleagues, patients and the communities in which she worked."
He added: “The health board will provide all necessary support to the practice and staff during this difficult time.”
A family friend of Ms Cruz has set up a GoFundMe page in her memory, to help the family with the cost of her funeral and any further expenses.
Describing Ms Cruz, family friend Angeliza Tenorio said: "Anyone that knows her knows her to be one of the most vibrant, caring and the kindest soul, she will always be remembered by her contagious giggles, brightest of minds and never ending kindness to one and all."
On Wednesday, it was announced that 60 more people have died after contracting coronavirus in Wales to take the overall total to 463. That is the highest amount reported in a single day since the outbreak began.
