Swansea City transfer news as Swans linked with League One star and Wolves loanee discusses future

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Monday, May 1.

Swans eyeing young Shrews star

Swansea City are reportedly monitoring Shrewsbury Town starlet Tom Bloxham.

The 19-year-old is highly rated by the League One outfit, having made 26 league appearances this season.

Most of those outings were off the bench, with the teenager making just five starts. He's also not yet found the net this campaign.

Nevertheless, there's clearly plenty of belief in the youngster, who signed a new three-year deal last year.

According to the Daily Mail, Swansea are among several clubs to be keeping an eye, with Blackburn Rovers and Rotherham United also named as potential admirers.

Cundle unsure on future

Luke Cundle admits he's not sure where his future lies beyond the upcoming transfer window, but insists he's loved every minute of his spell at Swansea City.

The 21-year-old has made 33 appearances for the club since arriving on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a run that's yielded two goals, both against Hull City.

It remains to be seen what will happen next, but Cundle believes his development has hugely benefitted from his time in south Wales.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” he said.

“The gaffer and his staff have been brilliant, the lads are a great. They’re all good players and people.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’m looking forward to what next season brings for me.

“I think I can still improve my physicality.

“I’ve adapted well to the league but that’s something I can still improve on, so I’ll be working more on that in the summer.

“I’ll go back to Wolves, I don’t know what the plans are yet but I’ll enjoy my break in the summer and see what happens next season.

"But I have really enjoyed my time in Swansea, and I have learned so much."

Young Swans ease past Burnley

Swansea City's under-21s eased to victory over Burnley in their final away game of the Professional Development League season.

Goals from Liam Smith, Josh Thomas, Mitchell Bates and Ruben Davies were enough to secure the three points for the young Swans.

Smith struck the opener in the 12th minute to give the visitors the lead, before the Clarets drew level through Deji Sotana before the interval.

Thomas put the Swans back in front after half-time, only for Seb Thompson to restore parity once more just moments later.

However, Swansea sealed victory courtesy of a maiden strike from Bates and a Davies tap-in.

Burnley Under-21s: Charlie Casper, Alex Healy-Byrne, Dane McCullough, Dan Sassi (captain), Jack Turner, Joe Bauress, Tom Tweedy, Jezreel Davies, Joe Westley (Deji Sotona 40'), Will Hugill, Sen Thompson.

Unused subs: Harry Moss, Ryan Tioffo, Gabriel Otegbayo, Callum West.

Swansea City Under-21s: Remy Mitchell, Harry Jones (Mitchell Bates 57'), Sam Leverett (Corey Hurford 71'), Tivonge Rushesha, Filip Lissah, Ben Blythe, Joe Thomas, Azeem Abdulai, Josh Thomas (Kian Jenkins 71'), Joel Cotterill (captain) (Ruben Davies 57'), Liam Smith.

Unused subs: Evan Watts.

Grimes reaches milestone

Captain Matt Grimes says he's proud to have hit 250 appearances for Swansea City.

The Swans skipper reached the landmark milestone in the 1-1 draw with Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, and was delighted to have made such a special achievement.

“It’s an unbelievably proud moment,” he said.

“I love this club, but I actually didn’t even realise [I’d reached 250] until before the game when the gaffer mentioned it.

“But I’m immensely proud and it’s a very happy day.

“There’s a fair few amazing moments I've been fortunate to experience – Cardiff away this season being one – but I’d need a bit longer to go through them all!

“I absolutely love this club and the city. It’s home for me and my family.

“I’ll just keep going now and keep ticking the games off and continue to do my very best for this club."
