Swansea City transfer news as John Eustace gatecrashes Swans job race and striker says move 'too good to turn down'

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Tuesday, May 30.

Eustace odds shorten

John Eustace has moved up to second favourite with the bookies to succeed Russell Martin at Swansea City.

The current Birmingham City boss is priced at 5/2 with BetVictor, behind current leader Chris Davies, who's been out of work since leaving his role as assistant boss to Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

Davies is now at 6/4, while Steven Schumacher is third at 6/1.

Eustace is admired by some corners of the Swansea hierarchy, having twice been in the running to take over in recent years. It's understood he came close to landing the job in 2019, before club decided to go with Steve Cooper.

When Cooper left, he was in the frame once more and was even offered the job, only to pull out of the running due to personal reasons.

Swansea went on to appoint Martin, but reports have now suggested Eustace could be considered once more, although it seems he hasn't yet been sounded out over the possibility of revisiting a move to SA1.

Even if he was, Swansea may well have a job on their hands in convincing the 43-year-old.

Eustace currently has two years left to run on his deal at St Andrew's and is understood to be settled at Birmingham, whom he guided to Championship safety despite working with limited financial resources.

The club was the subject of a takeover earlier this month, and Eustace is believed to be eager to get some insight into the club's plans under the new regime.

Odds in full:

Chris Davies 6/4

John Eustace 5/2

Steven Schumacher 6/1

Oscar Garcia 8/1

Steve Cotterill 8/1

Brendan Rodgers 12/1

Cameron Toshack 16/1

Ryan Mason 16/1

Ian Evatt 16/1

Trio called up for Wales

Swansea City trio Ben Cabango, Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen have all been included in Rob Page's Wales squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers with Armenia and Turkey.

Uncapped Cullen has been called up to the senior squad for the second time in his career, while Cooper has similarly returned to the fold after making his debut in the home game with Latvia back in March.

Wales host Armenia in Cardiff on Friday June 16, before travelling to Samsun to take on Turkey on Monday June 19.

Ennis - Blackburn move 'too good to turn down'

Niall Ennis says the opportunity to move to move to Blackburn Rovers was ‘too good to turn down’, amid alleged interest from Swansea City.

Reports elsewhere had suggested the Swans were keen admirers of the Plymouth Argyle forward, who turned down the offer of a new deal at Home Park.

However, Rovers won the race for his signature.

Speaking on his move, Ennis said: “I’m happy I’ve signed for the Rovers and I can’t wait to get started. You see where the team finished last season, just missing out on the play-offs on goal difference, and I feel the next goal is to get in the Premier League.

“You have aspirations as a player and I feel that I have a lot more to give to help get this club where they want to get to. “I feel like I’ve got the ability to prove myself and it’s about showing that now.

“Speaking to the director of football and the gaffer, they’ve seen it in me and it’s just about proving myself to the fans,” he added. “I feel this opportunity is a big one and something that I couldn’t say no to. The chance to be fighting up the top of the Championship is something that you dream of and I believe I can do it.”

Drameh future up in the air

Leeds United star Cody Drameh is facing an uncertain future at Elland Road, but could yet end up staying at the club.

Clubs from the Premier League and Championship are thought to be keen on the ex-Cardiff City loanee, who was understood to be on Swansea's radar back in January.

Drameh instead chose to sign for Luton Town, and played a key role for the Hatters as they secured an incredible and historic promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

There's every chance the Hatters will be keen on making the 21-year-old's stay permanent this summer, although the Yorkshire Evening Post claim "several clubs in the Championship and newly-promoted Premier League sides are interested in the full-back’s services".

They have also stated there's a chance Drameh could end up staying at Leeds, with a raft of expected player exits potentially clearing the way for him to play a more regular role in west Yorkshire.
