The 20-year-old spent the opening half of the campaign on loan with Championship rivals Huddersfield Town but found the going tough with the Terriers given their poor start to the campaign. He made 15 appearances in all competitions for the west Yorkshire outfit, scoring one goal in a 2-1 win at Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Key, 23, is also wanted by Luton Town and is out of contract this summer.

Oba's message to fans

Michael Obafemi's move to Burnley was confirmed on Sunday, with the striker revealing he was "adamant" he wanted the move after last summer's failed transfer to Turf Moor.

A loan agreement until the end of the season has been signed., with the Clarets holding the option to make the move permanent in the summer, and it's understood that is virtually certain to happen given the structure of the deal.

On Instagram he signed off his time with Swansea with a message to the Jack Army.

He wrote: "My time has come to an end @swansofficial I want to thank everyone at the club for always making me feel welcome & helping create some amazing memories which I will never forget. Thank you."

Ayew's contract terminated

Andre Ayew has had his contract with club Al-Sadd SC terminated by mutual consent.

News emerged Sunday lunchtime, with the club's social media channels confirming his exit. "OFFICIAL: Al-Sadd SC has reached an agreement with Andre Ayew to terminate his contract with the club by mutual consent Thank you Andre."

The former Swansea star, aged 33, endured a difficult World Cup for Ghana in Qatar, missing a penalty against Uruguay in a crucial game and suffering personal heartbreak following the death of his godson during the tournament. His daughter also fell ill following the match against the South Americans.

Ayew signed for the Middle East club in the summer of 2021 on a reported £200,000-a-week deal.
