Swansea City transfer latest as Joel Piroe signing edges closer plus Liam Walsh and Thomas Henry latest

Joel Piroe has completed a medical ahead of a move from PSV Eindhoven to Swansea City.

The Swans agreed terms with the Dutch outfit earlier this month over a £1m swoop for the striker.

On Saturday, PSV publicly confirmed they had granted Piroe permission to speak with other clubs with a view to leaving Philips Stadion.

And the 21-year-old is now edging ever closer to securing a permanent move to the Liberty Stadium having passed a medical with the Swans.

The club are continuing to thrash out the final details over a visa for Piroe but are hopeful of making an official announcement soon.

He is expected to become the club's second summer signing after Kyle Joseph joined from Wigan Athletic while goalkeeper Nico Defreitas-Hansen has joined the Swans' Under-23s from Everton.

Meanwhile, Swansea remain interested in a deal for Liam Walsh.

The midfielder is a free agent having been released by Bristol City following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign.

However, the former Everton man has attracted interest from several clubs.

Elsewhere, it appears as though Swansea's pursuit of striker Thomas Henry is now over.

Given that the club will spend a seven-figure sum to recruit Piroe, a swoop for OH Leuven forward Henry is most likely to be off the cards.

Reports in the national media have also linked Connor Roberts with a move to Burnley. You can read the full story on the Wales international right here.

The summer transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, August 31.
