Swansea City transfer headlines as Middlesbrough drop out of race for Tottenham star and Declan John suffers disaster after leaving

Here's the latest round-up of all the transfer news and gossip from the Liberty Stadium for Monday, January 11.

Boro drop out of Clarke race

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock says he's not currently interested in making a January loan move for Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke.

The 20-year old winger has been linked with a number of Championship clubs recently, with Stoke City and Swansea City among those tipped to rival Boro for the former Leeds starlet's signature.

However, Warnock has now played down suggestions of bringing the youngster to Teeside, adding that the club are likely to be in the market for more senior players.

“I don’t want to be disrespectful to Jack, and I’m sure he’s a very good player, but I’ve not seen anything of him,” said Warnock. “The type I’m looking at are players who are probably going to come straight into the team and make a difference."

Clarke came off the bench for Spurs during their 5-0 win over Marine in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, and is highly rated by boss Jose Mourinho having trained with the senior squad for much of the season.

Gyokeres aware of Malmo interest

Swans loanee Viktor Gyokeres admits he's aware of interest from Swedish side Malmo, but insists he's fully focused on his current club.

Gyokeres netted his first goal for the Swans at the weekend as they eased their way past Stevenage in the FA Cup third round, but has largely struggled to make an impact at the Liberty Stadium since arriving on loan from Brighton.

There have already been suggestions that he could well follow fellow loanees Kasey Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White in leaving the club this month, with Malmo keen on taking him back to Sweden.

However, the player insists he's currently only thinking about succeeding for Swansea City.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, he said: "My agent has told me about their interest.

"I have heard that they have been interested, it is not so much more than what has happened. It is a nice association in Sweden.

"It's always fun to hear that a big club is interested.

"Right now I am focusing on Swansea, I have not thought of anything else if I am to be completely honest."

John suffers injury blow

Declan John's start to life at Bolton Wanderers has been dealt a devastating blow.

John recently joined the Trotters on loan from Swansea City until the end of the season, and was hoping to make his debut against Exeter City in midweek.

However, he now faces several weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury towards the end of a Wanderers training session.

Manager Ian Evatt said: "We’ve got two new bodies in but Declan’s hurt his hamstring in training today, so it never rains but it pours.

"We’ll see how that settles and we’ll get him scanned to see the extent. There was literally two minutes of training left so we’re unfortunate with that one."
