Swansea City to welcome back 8,200 fans for Southampton friendly at the Liberty Stadium

Swansea City have confirmed that 8,200 supporters will be able to attend the club's pre-season clash with Southampton at the Liberty Stadium on July 31.

Having invited fans back for the play-off semi-finals with Barnsley at the end of last season, the Jack Army will once again get a chance to cheer on their team, with hopes high that an even larger attendance will soon be allowed through the gates once the season starts.

Away fans will not be permitted to attend the fixture, with tickets set to go on sale to season ticket holders at 9am on Friday, July 16, before going on general sale the same day at 2pm.

Those who cannot buy a ticket online are advised to call the club's ticket office.

Fans in attendance will be required to sign a Code of Conduct and will receive their tickets digitally.

The game is Swansea's only pre-season clash at the Liberty Stadium, with Steve Cooper's side otherwise set to spend most of their preparations on the road.

As things stand, supporters will be able to travel to the game against Plymouth (July 20), but the club are still waiting for confirmation either way on the matches with Bristol Rovers (July 24) and Forest Green (July 28).

Sources at the club say they are also waiting for further guidance on just how many fans will allowed to attend their home games in the Championship, with clubs in England seemingly working towards operating at full capacity.

Most restrictions in Wales are due to be scrapped by August 7, the start of the new Championship season, but First Minister Mark Drakeford has stressed that such moves would only be done should coronavirus rates allow.
