Swansea City to swoop as Leeds United fail to land Chelsea star due to Lampard; Nottingham Forest target speaks out on future; West Brom target nears exit door - Latest Championship gossip

Here is the latest gossip from the Championship.

Swans in for Chelsea duo

Wales Online report that Swansea City are keen on Chelsea duo Jake Clarke-Salter and Kasey Palmer.

Leeds United were keen on England under-21s skipper Clarke-Salter but fear the appointment of Frank Lampard as Blues boss may have scuppered this.

The Swans face competition from Norwich City and Bristol City for Palmer.

Forest target speaks out

Younousse Sankhare says he will not join any old club after more sides joined Nottingham Forest in the race for the Bordeaux midfielder.

“I understand what position I am in,” he said, in a translated interview. “Each time there is a new manager, it is the same thing. I am initially cast aside, I do what I need to do to reintegrate myself and things go well.

“This time, the coach (Sousa) made it clear to me that he is not counting on me, that I needed to find an exit door.

“Okay, but I am not just going to go to any old club, in any way.

“They want to sort out my situation as quickly as possible but they need to respect me at the very least.”

Baggies target to leave

Birmingham Live report that West Brom target Mattheus Pereira is nearing the exit door at Sporting.

The Baggies had a loan bid turned down for the winger but negotiations continue.

It is believed that Albion have proposed an initial loan move for the winger, with an option to buy for around €9m next summer.
