Swansea City to clinch loan signing of Hannes Wolf from Borussia Mönchengladbach as visa issues resolved

Swansea City are closing in on a deal to sign Hannes Wolf on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The attacking midfielder has been told he can leave the German club in pursuit of regular football.

On Wolf, Mönchengladbach's sporting director Max Eberl recently said: "Something might happen in the next few days. We'll see when the time comes."

The club were concerned over visa issues for the Austrian attacker earlier this week.

But they are now hopeful of concluding a loan deal for the 22-year-old before Saturday's Championship clash with Preston North End.

He is set to become the Swans' third January signing following the arrivals of Andy Fisher and Cyrus Christie from MK Dons and Fulham respectively.

Russell Martin has been determined to add to his creative options, particularly given the current situation of Jamie Paterson.

Wolf joined Monchengladbach from Red Bull Leipzig for a fee in the region of £8m last year.

Celtic and Rapid Vienna are among the list of clubs credited with showing an interest in Wolf of late.

Swansea remain interested in a loan swoop for Manchester City's James McAtee.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on January 31.
