Swansea City suffer transfer blow as Spanish side switch attentions to Wolves man ahead of £15m 'dream' signing - reports

Swansea City's hopes of cashing in on former record signing Borja Baston have reportedly been dealt a big blow.

According to reports in Spain, Spanish second tier side Real Zaragoza have ended their interest in the forward, despite manager Victor Fernandez allegedly believing him to be a dream signing.

Spanish newspaper AS claims Zaragoza will now move on to Wolves youngster Rafa Mir, although the 22-year-old's potential wage demands are believed to be a stumbling block.

The news will come as a blow to the Swans , who remain keen to sell the Spaniard following what has been a disappointing spell at the Liberty Stadium.

The forward signed for a club-record fee of £15.5m back in 2016 and has scored just one goal for the Swans - in a 3-2 defeat at Arsenal.

He has subsequently spent the last two seasons on loan in Spain, firstly at Malaga, where he scored two goals, and then at Alaves, where he netted five times.

With a year left to run on his current deal, the club's hierarchy are keen to ensure they move him, and the Ayew brothers, out of the door this summer, although it's unclear just how much of the money recouped from sales will be made available to new boss Steve Cooper.

It's understood there is no imminent movement at this stage.
